Wescue: Meet Ricky

Ricky is a poor little Westie who was abused by his owners. The stress gave him a skin condition, which as you can see, led to loss of hair and sores. Fortunately, Ricky has been rescued by Westie Rescue and by Wescue, Kitchen Magic's animal rescue charity.  Wescue took him to a new home where he can get the care and love he deserves. He is a frendly little guy who has responded to kindness and will soon be happy.

Wescue: Dogs Return the Favor

Usually on Friday, we tell the story of a dog rescued by Wescue, Kitchen Magic's animal rescue charity. Today, here's a story about humans being rescued by dogs:




Dogs and humans have lived and worked together for at least 30,000 years and perhaps longer. Lots of these remarkable animals need your help. Consider opening your home to a pet, or supporting your local animal shelter. Remember, you can't change the world, but you can change the world for one lucky dog or cat.

Wescue: Debbie and Maxie

This is little Debbie, a charming young Westie. Sadly, she has a skin condition that requires treatments for about two months.

Her owner fell on hard times and did not have the money to pay for her food and medicine. She called Westie Rescue, who took her in. Wescue, Kitchen Magic's animal rescue charity, picked her up, and it was heartbreaking as her owner cried.

Her skin is showing improvement, but she needs a new owner who can care for her. She is very sweet and accustomed to indoor life.

Maxie appears to be a mini-Schnauzer, who comes from a home that did not want him any more.  He is VERY energetic and very sweet. A young family who had recently lost a min-Schnauzer adopted him briefly, but there were allergy issues, and they had to return him. That is why we suspect he is not a pure-bred Schnauzer.

Wescue: Rosie and Kelly Girl

Meet Rosie and Kelly Girl, with their friend Karen. Karen and her husband first rescued Kelly Girl some years ago from a puppy mill near Nashua, NH where she had spent her life as a prisoner for profit. Now she is living the good life she deserves.

Kelly Girl spreads her love and joy to others as a therapy dog,  Karen and Kelly did the training  and got certified, and now regularly visit Children's Hospital in Boston, the Spaulding Burn Unit, nursing homes, and homebound people, to brighten the days of others.

Rosie was recently found wandering the streets of New York City, abandoned.  Wescue arranged for Karen and her husband to take them. Now the two Westies are great friends who spend happy weekends boating with their new family.

Wescue: Update on Jane Doeg

Many of you remember the story of poor Jane Doeg, the Westie who was found on a street on Long Island. She had been abandoned after having been terribly abused. Her skin was covered with sores and almost all her hair was gone.

We are happy to report that she is recovering and has been renamed Blossom.  She's living in Massachusetts with a family that loves and cares to her, thanks in part to Wescue, Kitchen Magic's animal rescue charity.

Animal shelters, unfortunately, often have pets who have been mistreated or abused. If you want to open your heart and home to one of them, be aware that it will take a lot of time and patience. Abused dogs may have difficulty relating to people or other pets.  They may have an intense fear of people, and may overeat because they have been starved. Consult with your veterinarian as to the best way to help them.

Wescue: Phinneas

Phinneas (seen above in the pet carrier) is a cute little boy Westie from Lebanon Township, NJ, who is four years old.  His owners had to give him up because they have teenagers and two other dogs, and Phinneas needs more attention to be happy. They want Phinneas to have a better life with people that have more time for him.

Kitchen Magic's pet rescue charity, Wescue, is taking him to his new owners, a retired nurse and her elderly mother. They are very eager to get him and can hardly wait!  They will be living in two homes, one in Massachusetts and a summer home in Maine.

Phinneas is seen above with Shannon and Molly, the mother and daughter pair who are now in their new home.

Please support your local animal shelter. You can make a world of difference for a deserving cat or dog.

In New Hampshire, Kitchen Magic will be in Manchester at the Manchester Home and Energy Show Saturday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

In the Nutmeg State, Connecticut, Kitchen Magic will be at the Connecticut Better Living & Home Show in Bridgeport, Saturday from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m. and Sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. You'll also find us at The Great Taste in Hartford, part of the Greater Hartford's Wine, Food, Travel and Lifestyle festival. Hours will be 11:30 a.m. to 8 p.m. on saturday, and 11 a.m. to  5 p.m. on Sunday. And if flea markets are more tour taste, you'll find us at the New Hartford Flea Market in Connecticut on Saturday from 8 a.m. to 3 p.m.

North Brunswick, NJ is holding its Heritage Day on Saturday from noon to 5 p.m., and Kitchen Magic will be on hand. You'll also find us at the Bloomsbury Arts Festival in Bloomsbury, NJ, on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. and sunday from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m., and we'll be in Lambertville at the Golden Nugget Market from 6 a.m. until 1 p.m.

Stewartsville, NJ, will have a parade, entertainment and a circus for its Community Day on Saturday from noon until 8 p.m. Stop and say hello to Kitchen Magic there.

We'll be at two home shows in New York. The Greater Philadelphia Fall Home Show is coming to King of Prussia, PA, and Kitchen Magic wouldn't miss it. Wescue: Shannon and Molly

Shannon and Molly are about 2 years old. From the way they behave and look, we think they are mother and daughter Westie blends (maybe mixed with Cairn Terrier).  

They were discovered abandoned in some bushes in Edgewater, NJ.  They have been under the Westie Rescue care for a couple of weeks now.  They are called two “cup-cakes" (since they are as sweet as can be). They have been have been spayed and micro-chipped by the Westie Rescue folks. Wescue, the Kitchen Magic animal rescue charity, is taking them to live with a retired couple in Massachusetts today.

You can provide deserving pets like Shannon and Molly a happy home. Or you can make a pet's temporary home a little brighter. Please support your local animal shelter today.

Roscoe is a very good dog who lived in northern New Jersey in a family with  two kids. The kids grew up and went away to school, and no one is left at home to give Roscoe the affection and attention he needs.

Wescue: Jane Doeg

Poor little Jane Doeg was found abandoned on a street on Long Island, bloodied & red. Someone had abused her terribly. Her skin was covered with sores, and she had only one little knot of fur on top of her head.

Despite all that she's been through, she's gentle and loves to be around people. Wescue, Kitchen Magic's animal rescue charity, will be taking her to Massachusetts next week to a new family that will give her the care, love and attention she deserves. In the meantime, the Kitchen Magic staff will be thinking up a new name for her.

Wescue: Amos & Andy

For ten years, Amos & Andy lived together with the lady who took care of them, until she became to ill to live alone and had to be hospitalized. The two little Westies had never been apart, but it's difficult to find a person who wants one elderly dog, much less a pair.

Fortunately, Westie Rescue and Wescue, Kitchen Magic's pet rescue charity, were able to find a new owner for the boys, who are delighted to stay together.

Wescue: Schnitzel & Pitzel

Schnitzel and Pitzel were good little Westies.

A kind gentleman had bought them as a present for his wife at Christmas six years ago, and they had all lived quite happily together. Until this spring, when the gentleman's wife passed away.

Pitzel and Schnitzel had been together all their lives, and the gentleman wanted to try to keep them together, even though he could no longer care for them.

Enter Westie Rescue. In conjunction with Kitchen Magic's Wescue charity, they were able to find a family who would take both dogs. Now Schnitzel and Pitzel are together, delighting their new owners who love and care for them.

Poor little Angus had a horrible life. His former owner beat and kicked him and once actually hung him up by his collar so he would strangle when his hind legs tired.
